Bulging Herniated Discs 2017-08-25T14:13:57+00:00

What can I do to help a bulging or herniated disc?

A bulging or herniated disc occurs for many reasons. Repetitive strain over time or a serious strain or injury can cause a spinal disc to become damaged or compressed causing a buldge, protrusion or herniation. A disc injury is considered more serious than a simple joint sprain and if left untreated can result in more serious complications that may require surgery. Pain can vary from a mild ache to severe sharp, stabbing pain in the area of the disc or referring pain down the arm or leg. It is highly recommended to consult a chiropractor immediately if you have these symptoms or have been diagnosed via a CT or MRI scan.

In our office we offer the latest and most scientifically supported treatment for disc injuries – SPINAL DECOMPRESSION THERAPY. It is possible to resolve the disc injury without surgery using this therapy. Please see our SPINAL DECOMPRESSION PAGE for more information.

What Can a Doctor of Chiropractic Do?

  • Perform gentle, spinal manipulation or chiropractic adjustments to improve spinal movement, relax muscles and alleviate the stress on your system.

  • Provide nutritional advice or recommend a change in diet and the use of supplements.

  • Offer advice on posture, ergonomics (work postures), exercises and relaxation techniques. This advice should help to relieve the recurring joint irritation and tension in the muscles of the neck and upper back that cause headaches.
